Our standards guide how impact is measured and assessed. All measurement output is verified against our standards.

Our Principles

Our Standards are built on five different Principles that are outlined below.

Relevant

The information you report needs to actually matter. It must be capable of shaping the economic, environmental, and social decisions your audience makes, and tailored to your reporting framework and the topics that count.

Complete

Don't tell half the story. Disclosures should cover every material aspect and data point needed to understand how your organisation is really performing on sustainability — including impacts across your value chain, not just the parts that are easy to measure.

Reliable

Numbers only matter if people can trust them. That means accurate, measurable data backed by solid internal controls, clear traceability, and evidence strong enough to hold up under independent scrutiny.

Neutral

Report the good and the bad. Information should be free from bias and presented in balance and never cherry-picked or spun to steer how stakeholders see things.

Understandable

Say it plainly. Disclosures should be clear, concise, logically laid out and in language and formats that don't leave people wading through unnecessary ambiguity or jargon.

Requirements

The below Requirements set out how we do what we do at Make Good Measurement. They explain how we measure impact and why — helping ensure consistency, credibility and authenticity across every project or campaign we assess.

Below are the 11 components that go into producing your final Make Good Measurement report and storytelling assets.

PLEASE NOTE: This is the ‘plain English’ version of our Requirements. The full detail sits in the Make Good Measurement Standards. Please email us for a copy of the detailed Standards.

Auditing

The third party auditing and independent advisors behind our Standards.

External independent auditors supported the development of the Standards to ensure they are robust, reliable and transparent. Additionally, for relevant campaigns, an external audit process can be engaged to review campaign measurement for extra assurance.

Our independent advisors are industry advisors who examined the Standards and Framework to ensure they are credible, consistent and practical.
